New Tv Obsession!

 I am a huge historical fiction junkie. I mostly read any story I can get my hands on, but I have recently begun watching Downton Abby on Netflix. I have to say I am in love with the story line. It follows the story of an English family and the running of their house before World War I starts and follow their lives as the war unfolds. It has scandal, romance, and deceit. I devoured season 1 quickly and now I have to force myself not to spend all night watching season 2.

My favorite thing about the show is its fashion. I love vintage looks and this show has inspired me to add several new pieces to my wardrobe. I really want to add some vintage jewelry to my wardrobe as well as a pair of heeled oxford shoes.  I adore all aspects of the way the women of the show dress. My favorite characters are Mary and Sybil. I don't want to spoil any of the story but both of these women have very different but endearing traits. This show is a must see for anyone who enjoys a good historical drama. You won't be able to stop watching once you start the show.

It's Finally Fall

 It is finally starting to get cooler in my neck of the woods, and I can't wait to start putting together my fall wardrobe for this semester. I usually don't keep a lot of fall or winter clothes preferring to just wear a jacket over my short-sleeved items but i want to revamp my style so to speak and really get some basic fall and winter clothing items.  I have been browsing all of my favorite stores fall pieces and have narrowed down some pieces for my basic wardrobe essentials. My mom and I are going to go shopping when I got to visit this weekend so hopefully I can pick up a few things.

1. Scarves.... I absolutely love love love scarves. They actually make up a lot of my wardrobe currently. I love that they can dress up any casual outfit. I usually rock a plain v-neck tee with jeans my brown riding boots and a printed scarf. I love to find to ways to tie them for a different look. 

2. Shoes... I am not a big heels person so most of the time I wear flats or my boots during the winter. I really want to add a pair of cap-toe flats and I want to venture out of my comfort zone and get some heeled ankle booties.

The ankle boots are only $23 at Walmart!!!

3. Long sleeved t-shirts in various colors... These would replace my plain short sleeved tops I wear to class in warmer months. I also love that you can find them in anything from a great mustard yellow to a printed version. 

4. Jeans... from your basic skinny to the colored type that is in style now I can't wait to stock up on some great fall colored ones. I am really drooling over these green skinnies!

Other fall clothes that I am loving are the embellished collar button downs. I actually have one of these in my closet that I picked up in Montgomery it is my favorite purchase of the new semester. I really want to stock up on some more. I am also loving puffer vests! I feel like they really pull together a fall/winter ensemble.

Dog Food Dilemma!

 As a first time dog owner one of the main things I have had issues with is choosing the perfect affordable dog food.With Flynn this is a little tricky as he tends to eat kibble for a little while and then stop eating it. We have tried several different brands and I haven't liked any of them. When I first got Flynn as a puppy he was eating Science Diet. I knew that I did not want to use this brand and after speaking with a PetSmart employee tried their brand Authority. I loved it at first then Flynn stopped eating it. So back to the store I go and I come back with Pedigree, and the exact same thing happened. We tried Eukanuba next and he wouldn't even eat it. Finally I started researching brands that were locally available to me. I live in a college town but the only pet store we have is more of a grooming salon. So my options were limited to brands carried by Walmart or Tractor Supply. I wanted something that was affordable but healthy.   I found the brand 4health. It is a brand carried by the Tractor Supply and very affordable. It comes in about 6 varieties including puppy and small breed.  After doing a little digging and reading numerous reviews, all seeming to give it at least a 4/5 stars, I bought the small breed formula. And Flynn is loving it SO FAR. I'm going to be keeping you posted on how the new food holds up, but I have never seen Flynn eat food like he has been eating this new kibble so fingers crossed we found the right one.

Bookworm

  When I was in high school I spent most of my free time in the library. I was even a library aid for two semesters. I gained the trust of our librarian and eventually was allowed to take home books before they were put into the system. I know that sounds insane but I have always loved books. I love that they can transport you to a different time or reality. I used to stick with the same sort of genre. I origanally had a thing for historical fiction ( I would read anything involving the wives of Henry VIII) and crime mysteries. As I got older I started reading just about anything. By the time I was a senior I had read 70-75% of my  high school library. It came to a point that I was asked which books would be good to order for the school. I still have a love of books, but unfortunately with all of my college school work I haven't been able to read as much as I would like to. So I am challenging myself to make more time for reading for fun. It used to keep my stress level down  to just sit and enjoy a good book. What about you? Are you a bookworm like me or does something else relax you?

Flynn is Crazy.... Girl Crazy!!

 Flynn has his odd tendencies like any other dog. He sits up and waves at people and animals for attention, he spins around in circles before he can potty, and he rolls around in my clothes. Those I can deal with, but put him around a girl dog and he is a completely different dog. He cries and chases them around. He will go in a kennel even though he hates enclosed spaces, and he will just become a rude loud dog. This behavior however has only recently surfaced. Flynn really isn't  around many girl dogs at our house he has all boy dogs as friends. The minute I go to visit my parents, who own a female schnauzer, it's madness. And the funny thing is, he doesn't act crazy around every girl dog. So far he is insane around my mother's dog and one of my sorority sister's dog. That's it. Last year we lived with a female dog and while he wanted to play with her he never acted so crazy around her. I just don't understand this crazy tendency.

My Favorite Websites

  Its official that I spend way to much time online. Being a poor college students keeps me limited in my sources of cheap fun. I google at random, I netflix, and of course I use youtube, but there a few sites that I should have never stumbled upon.

1. Pinterest- If you haven't discovered pinterest yet you are missing out! I spend 75%-80% of my time online on pinterest alone. I love it because it directs you to all types of stores and blogs. I have learned so much in the past year from pinterest.

2. Etsy.com- I love anything and everything handmade. There is just something about unique handmade finds that excites me. I could spend hours looking through all of the items for sale.

3. Pawsh Magazine- this is an online pet blog/ magazine. It has tips, reviews, and other pet related topics. I like to stay well informed on all things pet related especially with the all of the pet food recalls. This is one of the main blogs I check often

4. Fab.com- this is a discount type of store. Each week name brand and popular items are offered at a discounted price. All you have to do is sign up with an email address and you're in. I check at least once a week for all the new deals. Sometimes they have really amazing deals!!

 

Meet Flynnigan

   One of the most important things in my life right now is my 13 month old blue merle Pomeranian Flynn. I got him from a breeder in Mississippi when he was 7 weeks old. 

   This was taken when I first got him. He fit in the palm of my hand.

  Now my sweet little boy weighs 3.5 lbs. Flynn is my very first dog to own all on my own. Having him has taught me how to take care of myself and another creature. I can't just up leave for the  weekend without thinking about Flynn. Owning a dog in college is also not the easiest thing I have to make time in my schedule to make sure he stays happy and healthy. So my life is crazy but I wouldn't have it any other way.

A New Beginning

  Every story has a beginning, middle, and an end. Well we are going to skip all that boring beginning stuff and start right in the middle of my story. The story of a small town college senior living with her 3.5lb Pomeranian. A girl who has no earthly idea what she is going to do with her life. Someone who has to figure it all out in oh...about 9 months. I am a journalism and public relations major, a southern sorority girl, a craft-a-holic, a dreamer, and an animal lover. This is my journey.
